German - Arab trade is in a constant growth

Trade between Germany and the Arab states is in a constant growth despite the tense situation which the region is undergoing, participants at the current German-Arab economic forum stressed Thursday.

Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa, in a speech to the forum, said that investment in the Arab homeland is due to the level of growth and stability, calling upon German economic sector to exploit the available opportunities in the Arab states.

"This investment and what it will yield of economic and social results is in the Europeans interests too, because it is to lessen waves of immigration to Europe," Moussa said, hailing the progress that the Arab states is attaining even if it were in disparate degrees in the recent stage of modernization, development and reform.

The Regional Director of German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Middle East said that German trade with the Arab states had increased at the rate of 10% to reach Euro 24 billion.

About 700 Arab and German businessmen in addition to a number of political leaders are participating tin the forum.

German exports to the Arab states constitutes 2.5 % of the German total exports so the Arab region has become an important market for German trade in comparison with Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Latin America.
