EU announces no position to isolate Syria: European MP

The European Union did not take any attitude to isolate Syria, on the contrary, the EU has supported Syria's stances in different fields of economy, technology and logistics, Beatrice Patri, head of the EU parliamentary delegation to Syria said Thursday.

During the opening ceremony of EU information technology center, head of the EU Commission delegation in Syria, Frank Hesske, described opening the information technology center as a positive step which can offer new services in a professional way. "The center will undertake organizing and coordinating works in the industrial chamber and providing all needed services during a record time" Hesske said.

He clarified that the EU Commission will continue supporting small and intermediate projects in Syria.

Both chairmen of the industrial and trade chambers in Aleppo stressed that the Syrian-EU partnership agreement will realize positive results for both sides particularly in the productive and constructive cooperation between Syria and the EU's countries in institutional fields.

"Europe is considered the main partner of Syria and the Arab region" They noted.

Earlier, Homs, Syria's center, governorate Mohammed Iyad Ghazal discussed with the EU delegation ways of boost the administrative development in Homs municipality as well as encouraging employees to take the initiative for raising the level of performance and solving citizens' issues such as building licenses.

The EU delegation is working to implement a program of administrative modernization in all Syrian municipalities with Euro 18 million as an aid from the EU Commission and Euro 2,5 million from the ministry of local administration.

During a dialogue session about Syria-European partnership, Hesske underlined that the European union will participate, through the project of administrative modernization, in improving and providing best services as well as supporting programs of administrative reform in Syria.

"The EU also will create an economic environment that supplies job opportunities for a considerable section of the Syrian society," Hesske indicated.

He also touched upon projects with the EU participation that may improve living conditions for citizens and developing and encouraging merging Syrian companies with their European partners.

For her part Patri pointed out that "trade isn't just economy, but it is joint meetings and cultures exchanging," calling for enahncing and deepening ties between Syria and the Europeans.
