US Assistant Secretary of State in Libya

Libya's Leader, Muammar al-Qathafi, received Wednesday evening the US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, David Welch, and according to JANA "conveyed during the meeting to the Leader renewed appreciation of US President George W. Bush of the leader, praising the mutual trust that began to characterize relations between his country and Libya."
