G-77 summit demands the abrogation of American sanctions on Syria

The Syrian deputy foreign minister Walid al-Muallim said that the second G-77 plus China Summit in Doha, Qatar, which started deliberations in Doha adopted a resolution rejecting unilateral decisions imposed on Syria by the US under what is called "Syria's Accountability Act" and demanded the abrogation of this law and returning back to "constructive dialogue."
He added in press statements that "not only Syria demands that, rather it is the request of the international community." He stressed that there are no reservations on this clause from any country of the Group because every and each developing country has been exposed to pressure and unilateral decisions and politics that contradict these countries' national interests.
He explained that it is natural that this big number of countries maintain solidarity with Syria against the sanctions. He added "we are very pleased over the content of Doha declaration and Doha work plan."
In remarks to the proposed reforms to the UN Security Council, al-Mu'allim said that the proposals of the UN secretary general Kofi Annan talk about the expansion of the UN Security Council so as its members will be 24 including four permanent states: Japan, Germany, Brazil and India and south Africa was also added.
