Syria-Israel, Politics, 6/16/2005
The Israeli government has given green light to settlers in the occupied Syrian Golan to launch a new settlement campaign to attract hundreds of Israelis to settle in the Golan.
The Lebanese as-Safir newspaper said Tuesday the new Israeli campaign provides for attracting 300 Israeli families, as well as building 8 settlements, in addition to the project of expanding existing settlements there.
The newspaper added that the Israeli settlement council in the Golan underlined in its report that it seeks to sell 300 settlement units this year and expand 21 settlements, pointing out that 700 Israeli families settled in the occupied Golan over the 4 past years.
