Mrs. Mubarak announces national strategy for protecting juveniles
Egypt, Culture, 6/15/2005
Egypt's First Lady Suzanne Mubarak, chairperson of the technical advisory Committee of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, announced yesterday a national strategy for protecting juveniles from drugs.
Addressing the final session of an Arab conference on the subject on Tuesday, Mrs. Mubarak said that the strategy set a string of goals envisaging the integrated grooming of youngsters, with a view to enabling them to combat the temptation of drug-abuse.
Such goals also aim at preparing an integrated family approach that supports the role of school as a defense line against wrong concepts.
Mrs. Mubarak called for organizing efforts in which all categories of the society and the government would contribute to creating a social atmosphere combating drugs.
She added that a team of experts from the ministries and non-governmental organizations succeeded in highlighting the role that should be played by the society and schools, as well as various cultural and media institutions to encourage the democratic practice and avoid the risks of drugs.
