Al-Qaida warns against talks with the government
Iraq, Politics, 6/15/2005

The number of American soldiers killed during the 24 hours in Iraq increased to three. This was made by an announcement by the American army that one of its soldiers was killed today by a missile when one bus in Baghdad was running by. The attacks also resulted in injuring two coalition forces soldiers.

Earlier in the day, the American army announced the killing of two marines in a bomb explosion that targeted their procession on Tuesday in al-Anbar governorate to the west of Iraq.

Meantime, al-Qaida Jihad organization in Mesopotamia vowed in a statement on the Internet on Tuesday to kill any person that negotiates with the Iraqi government.

Thereby the group which is led by Abu Musab al-Zerqawi was reacting to what it called reports stating that tribal chiefs in Musil, the third largest cities in Iraq, are seeking to hold talks.

Yesterday, The US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld wasked about talks of an amnesty program, for those who are fighting the government and coalition forces, mentioned by some Iraqi officials. He did not express knowledge of such talks, and said "But it would not surprise me at all for discussions of that type to be taking place.Ê If you think about it, you've got tribal relationships in that country that go back decades and decades and decades.Ê And to the extent you can get a tribe that has a portion of its people opposing the government and a portion of the people supporting the government pulled in, why, that's a good thing.Ê You want to constantly try to tip people towards support for the Iraqi government if you're going to have a successful single country at peace with its neighbors that's able to provide the kind of opportunities for its people that everyone knows that country can do."

On Sunday the Iraqi government said that certain gunmen contacted it in search of peace conditions but gave no details on who made the contacts.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Muslim Scholars Commission in Iraq said that one American-Iraqi force broke on Tuesday the house of the commission's secretary general, Harith al-Dari, in Khan al-Dari area to the west of Baghdad.

Al-Dari was not at home, the force opened fire bullets before and after the breaking in and confiscated weapons of the guards.
