Al-Thawra: Syrian-Saudi lighting devices factory project

The Syrian Company for Electricity and Communication ( SyriaNet) said an offer by an advanced Saudi Arabian company has been under study to build a joint factory with SyriaNet for lighting devices in Syria.
Director General of SyriaNet, Sinan al-Ghanem, said in a statement published in al-Thawra newspaper Tuesday that the factory would be built in the central city of Homs in partnership with the British Union Project Company owned by Turkish businessman Osman Cahan who will provide 75 % of the project's value.
He added this value would be in the form of machinery, assembly lines, construction and raw materials, while SyriaNet would provide the needed infrastructure, including the land of the project, the HQ, water, electricity and workers.
The estimated cost of the project amounted to 198,6 million Syrian Pounds. It will create 85 job opportunities. The annual production capacity is 11,000 tons of overhead towers, 1,000 tons of telephone and TV towers, 1,000 tons of heavy metal works and other materials. The project is expected to be ready within 36 months.
