Algeria, Local, 6/10/2005

Some 13 municipal security guards taking part in operations against Islamists gunmen in Algeria were killed and other 6 were injured in a bomb explosion placed under their truck.

The Algerian daily al-Watan said that the truck, which was carrying 19 guards while on their way to take part in mopping up operation for the security forces, was destroyed by a bomb in Ein al-Reesh ( 180 km to the south west of Masela city, 250 km to the south east of the capital.).
