On the security situation in Iraq

In Washington, the US President George W. Bush and the British prime minister Tony Blair said that the strategy in Iraq is clear "it is to train the Iraqi forces until we will be able to face the enemy," in remarks to gunmen whose operations led since Tuesday resulted in killing 50 persons, four of them are from the American forces in attacks concentrated in Baghdad and northern Iraq, while one Iraqi security source announced the kidnapping of 22 soldiers on Wednesday to the west of Iraq.

Commander of Iraq's police Shaker Saleh said that the soldiers were kidnapped on the highway between al-Qaem and Rawa city, a short time after they had left their base, while gunmen assassinated two gunmen of the guards of the constitution formulation committee Fridon Abdul Qader, who was not within the convoy at the time of the attack which took place in one of the highways in Baghdad.

For its part, the American army announced the destruction of nine shelters for arms in Tal Afer near Musil and the detention of more than 70 gunmen, while the Iraqi ministry of the interior announced the detention of 900 persons in the two last weeks.
