Syria voices sorrow over campaign sets by certain Arab media
Syria-Regional, Politics, 6/9/2005
Syria's Minister of Information expressed on Wednesday deep regret over some Arab media contribution to the intensive media campaign Syria is exposed to due to her principled positions on Arab causes.
"Syria has been exposed to a media war where the most sophisticated technology of communication is used as well means of media delusion," Mehdi Dakhllah told the 38th session of Arab Ministers of Information that started today in Cairo.
He noted that what "is painful for Syrians is the contribution of some Arab media to this campaign sacrificing in that way by credibility and accuracy and damaging at the same time an Arab country and an Arab people whose only fault is that he is defending his independent decision and his principled positions against issues of war, occupation and aggression." "This campaign on Syria comes in framework of a wide media campaign on the Arab identity and some Arab media are contributing to it by circulating to pan-Arab nihilism," Dakhllah said noting that faltering of the pan-Arab movement does not means that it is void.
The Minister of Information called to define a general framework of a joint Arab media policy that "is based on pillars enjoying concordance to keep the identity and boost the Arab culture as well back the joint Arab issues."
Among the conference main topics are supporting Syria to face the so-called Syria Accountability Act and boosting Syria's position that calls to prevail the language of dialogue to solve any pending issues.
