Abu al-Gheit to visit Israel on June 19

One official at the Israeli foreign ministry said on Tuesday that Egypt's foreign minister Ahmad Abu al-Gheit will visit Israel on June 19th. The official said that Abu al-Gheit will meet during with this visit the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon.

The source said Abul-Gheit will review during his visit the latest developments in the peace march, the progress achieved until now regarding the implementation of Sharm el-Sheikh understandings and means of pushing ahead the peace process.

The source explained that the visit of Abu al-Gheit came in return to that carried out by the Israeli foreign minister Silvan Shalom on April 12. He said that the two ministers will discuss bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Israel.

Abu al-Gheit's visit to Israel coincides with the tour to be carried out by the US secretary of state Condaleezza Rice to the Middle east covering Egypt, Israel and the Palestinian territories on June 18.
