Calls to reinvigorate political life in Syria

Political committee of the Baath party congress today called to reactivate the political life in Syria and to deepen the popular participation in addition to "pay attention to others' opinion."

Interpositions of the party members in the second day of the 10th congress, demanded "the active participation of all national forces in the political life of Syria in a way that guarantees reaching to a better formula for representation."

Members talked about the need to develop the People's Assembly elections formula as to "express in a full way the democratic life of Syria that the party believes in and embodies in his various practices."

The debate underlined that "reform is a national nonstop issue in our economic, political, and service life and that there is a need to put down a comprehensive and practical program for the reform process."

SANA said conferees stressed in their interpositions on the national unity as a priority and not to soften in fighting he who does not keep it.

They emphasized the importance of the military establishment and the necessity of boosting it because "it is the first line that defends the country and preserves the peoples dignity."

Party fellows stressed the ought of dealing with the situation in accordance with the time needs and the peoples requirements. They noted that "any change or reform must emerge from the inside and the national needs of the country far away from diktats or foreign pressures."

Congress attendants called to make a "wide ranging reform in the media field because it poses as a big priority." They noted that this is to defend Syria's policy and interests as well to make citizens acquainted with what is happening." It is to avert citizens propaganda and rumors circulated by some foreign media on Syria and her principled stances," members said.
