19 killed in clashes in Iraq

At least 19 persons were killed and other 70 injured in three booby trapped car explosions in al-Hweijeh near Karkouk in the north of Iraq.

Coincidently, a fourth explosion took place in a vehicle for the Iraqi forces in al-Shulaa quarters in the north of Baghdad resulted in injuring 27 persons, according to news reports.

Meantime, the American forces continued its raids in TelAfer city to the north west of al-Hweijeh by helicopters, tanks and armored vehicles. The American army said that this resulted in detaining 73 person in the operation which the American forces started since May 26.

Al-Jihad Qaida organization in Mesopotamia claimed responsibility for blowing up one explosive in TelAfer.

The organization also claimed responsibility for downing two American helicopters in TelAfer clashes. This was expressed in a statement issued on the Internet.

Three contractors working with the American forces were killed and other 13 injured in an attack by gunmen using shells and machineguns at a car on the highway in al-Fallahta area to the east of Falluja.

The police found near Falluja the body of one man shot in the head and a message put in his clothes that said he was killed over collaboration with the Americans.

The American army also announced the killing of two marines in two separate bomb explosions in Falluja on Monday. A third soldier was announced to be died of his wounds he had during a battle with gunmen near Baghdad International airport.

On the other hand, one armed Iraqi group announced the kidnapping of one Turkish businessman and two of his escorts and threatened to kill him within four days unless Turkey gives up supporting the American forces in Iraq. This was expressed in a video tape broadcast by Dubai TV channel. It said that the armed group calls itself Ali Bin Abi Taleb group.
