'Memoire en detention' grabs Golden Falcon in Rotterdam

"Memoire en detention" (Imprisoned memory) of the Moroccan movie director Jilali Ferhati was awarded the Golden Falcon, the most prestigious award of the Rotterdam International Film Festival that wrapped up, Sunday, its fifth edition.
The jury paid tribute to the aesthetic and artistic qualities of the Moroccan film, said a release of the Moroccan Filmmaking Center, adding that Sma•l Ferroukhi's one-reeler "Grand Voyage" (great trip) also received the special mention of the same jury, while "Pour une place au soleil" (For a place under the sun) of Rachid Boutoun¸s won the Silver Falcon.
The new prize comes to further adorn Morocco's prize list, which was richly emblazoned during the Moroccan film day in the Cannes International Film Festival, the release said.
Since 2004, with the Golden Tanit that consecrated Mohamed Asli's "A Casablanca les anges ne volent pas" (In Casablanca Angels don't Fly), the Moroccan cinema has appreciably evolved to deserve a number of awards on the international arena.
