On the Lebanese legislative elections

The Lebanese Ministry of the Interior confirmed today that the alliance of Hizbullah- Amal movement won all seats of the circles of the South Lebanon governorate in the legislative elections whose second phase was completed on Monday.
In a press conference, the Lebanese minister of the interior Hassan al-Sabe' read names of the winners for the 23 seats. He explained that the two organizations won all 14 seats dedicated for the Shiite sect, while their alliance won other seats which are five for the Christians, three for the Sunni and one seat for the Druze. Sources at the Lebanese ministry of the interior said that the rate of turnout among voters in the south reached 45% and it was almost 51% in Sidon district while the city witnessed a weaker turnout at 42% while turnout was weak in the Christian areas.
The speaker of the parliament and leader of the Amal movement Nabih Berri considered that this victory is a sort of renewed confidence entrusted by the people of south Lebanon in the Hizbullah- Amal joint list. He said that the election victory for his movement and Hizbullah in the south came to serve Lebanon and its unity and to halt Israel's hostility.
