Baath Party Congress spokeswoman outlines activities

The 10th Regional Congress of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party on Monday evening continued deliberations on the level of committees.

The three economic, political and organizational committees held a number of meetings. President Bashar al-Assad participated in the first meeting of the economic committee.

During the economic committee meetings, interpositions and deliberations concentrated on the Syrian new directions to provide security, safety, housing, food and improving the standard living of all people.

The participants urged to combat corruption and punish the spoiled people.

The political committee, for its part, stressed the importance of the national unity and boosting it to promote Syrian steadfastness and strengthen its internal front in the face of foreign pressures.

Premier Naji Otari chaired the economic committee, foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara headed the political committee and Ghiyath Barakat chaired the organizational committee.

Later, Minister of Expatriates and the Spokeswoman of the 10th Regional Congress Buthaina Shaaban held a press conference in which she said that the political committee discussed a political report on the international relations and Syria's regional position in addition to issues that concern Syria, its ties with the world and the future of those relations.

"The Economic committee, discussed a number of issues that focused on the importance of achieving the comprehensive economic development and ensuring the basic needs of the citizen," Shaaban said.

She added that the interpositions also concentrated on combating corruption and putting the suitable mechanisms for this matter.

"The organizational committee focused on the peaceful ties between the Baath party and citizens, and the party's pioneering role in the service of society and the state," she said.
