Six Iraqis and American soldier killed

Five Iraqi civilians were killed including two children following one mortar shelling that fell at the suburbs of Musil city to the north of Iraq.

In a statement, the American army said that the five civilians were killed on Sunday evening in the a series of attacks that resulted in the four past days in killing 10 and injuring other ten in the same area.

One civilian was killed and two others injured on Monday in an attack by mortars targeting a police center in Musil, according to one officer in the police of this city.

In Karkouk to the north of Baghdad, unidentified gunmen killed on late Sunday evening a translator working with the American forces.

In other developments, one American soldier was announced killed in a bomb explosion when his convoy was running in Karkouk city while two Iraqi soldiers were killed and other four injured in a bomb explosion near al-Mahaweel area to the south of Baghdad.

In another attack, four Iraqi soldiers were injured in a booby trapped car explosion near a base for the Iraqi army in Tikrit.
