Egypt-Jordan, Politics, 6/6/2005
"The Egyptian-Jordanian summit, which is to be held today in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, comes within the framework of continual consultations and coordination between President Hosni Mubarak and King Abdullah of Jordan.
It aimed at safeguarding the interests of the Arab nation in general and those of the peoples of both states in particular, "Egypt's ambassador to Jordan, Ahmed Rizk said yesterday.
"The Mubarak-Abdullah talks will focus on the latest regional developments, notably the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the bilateral ties, which have witnessed many breakthroughs thanks to the directives of the leaders of both counties," the Egyptian ambassador said in statements to the Middle East News Agency (MENA).
"Egyptian-Jordanian ties are an excellent example to be emulated for the sake of firm relations and co-operation between Arab countries," Rizk said, referring to joint Egyptian-Jordanian mega-projects that have been completed, or those under construction, such as the Arab natural gas pipeline, of which phase two is now under way in Jordan.
