Abu Zeid: Vicious attempts to spoil Egypt-Nile Basin countries relations will be unfruitful
Egypt-Regional, Politics, 6/6/2005
Egypt's Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mahmoud Abu Zeid said that any vicious attempt to spoil the relations between Egypt and the Nile Basin countries will be unfruitful because leaders of these countries trust President Hosni Mubarak and look forward to Egypt's technical and financial assistance that boost these strong relations.
The minister added that Egypt had decided to increase the budget of the African Cooperation Fund in a bid to enhance Egypt's contribution in improving the standard living of these countries.
Abu -Zeid made a surprise when he announced that about 5 African countries told Egypt frankly that they don't need the Nile water at all as they have other resources of water. "Egypt sent experts and technicians to several African countries including the Democratic Republic of Congo which requested Egypt's help for maintaining its water waste huge quantities estimated at about one thousand billion cubic meters" he added.
