Amal, Hizbullah announce winning all seats of south Lebanon
Lebanon, Politics, 6/6/2005
Ballot centers in South Lebanon closed their doors on Sunday evening before voters in the second of the parliamentary elections.
It seemed that all voters were united in support Hizbullah party, considering voting for it as a vote to keep the weapons of resistance as a mean to protect Lebanon from Israel which occupied south Lebanon for almost 22 years.
Nabil Qawook, the Hizbullah party official in south Lebanon said that all voters prove by their voting they protect the resistance, the same way the resistance protected the homeland by weapons and bullets.
The Lebanese minister of the Interior Hassan al-Sabaa said that the turnout of voters who are eligible to voting numbering 675,000 in the south was good.
Amal and Hizbullah party announced winning all 23 seats of the second phase of the Lebanese parliamentary elections which have been carried out on phases since May 29th.
One official for the Hizbullah party in south Lebanon Sheikh Nabil Qawouq said that the result is a reaction against the UN resolution 1559 which calls for the disarmament of resistance, noting that resistance has become stronger by the voting and that the south is more fortified.
For her part, Nahia al-Harriri who won the elections unopposed for one of the two Sunni seats in Sidon said that the phase that will start after the elections is a political phase to build the state and renew constitutional life.
