American military mission in Comoros

An American military delegation started a visit to Comoros during which it held talks with military officials as well as the ministers of defense and foreign minister.
The foreign relations ministry in Comoros said that the American military delegation which arrived on Thursday was sent by the commander of the joint force for deployment to fight terrorism in the African Horn. It has Djibouti as a headquarters and aims at studying the country's needs of potable waters.
Comoros asked the support of the USA in order to solve problems of potable waters pollution in Greater Comoros following the eruption of Karthala Volcano in April.
A diplomat from Comoros asked to remain anonymous said that the aims of the visit is to detain one of Comoros's citizens called Fadel, who is accused of taking part in the two attacks against the two American universities in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998.
Since then, the FBI has been searching for Fadel Abdullah Muhammad, who is suspected to have had taken part in August 1998 in the two attacks. The first of which in Nairobi killed 213 persons including 12 Americans while the second in Dar al-Salaam resulted in killing 11 persons.
Investigations indicate that Fadel was contacting four Kenyans who are pursued in an attack that targeted a hotel inhabited by Israeli tourists near Mombassa in Kenya claimed the life of 18 persons in November 2002.
