Khartoum calls on Darfur rebels to take part in Abuja talks

The Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir expressed his hope on the participation of the rebels of Darfur in the talks set in Abuja, Nigeria next Friday.

In press statements quoted by Um Durman radio, Bashir stressed the commitment of Khartoum to the participation of a high ranking delegation with full authorization to reach an agreement.

Bashir said he hopes that this is the last round of negotiations. A matter which allows the way before convening a comprehensive conference for the people of Darfur to support peace and stability and the efforts of development in the region.

Worthy mentioning that the Sudan's liberation movement, one of the main rebel movement, has not so far announced final position over Abuja talks. A statement by the movement said it is holding contacts with the African Union before taking a decision.
