Ayman Nour expects genuine change in Egypt shortly
Egypt, Politics, 6/4/2005
The opposition Egyptian al-Ghad party leader Ayman Nour stressed that the main opposition groups are making consultations now to form a national front in opposition to the government.
Nour said that the aim behind that is to attain the ambitions of the Egyptian people for change and reform, stressing that the change of the regime is eventually coming, and that the few coming months will witness the birth of a new phase in the Egyptian political scene.
He said he is still the candidate for his party in competing with President Hosni Mubarak or any other candidate from the ruling party in the presidential elections due in September.
Nour said he supports the existence of full Egyptian judicial monitoring of the next elections and does not oppose the existence of international monitoring to follow up the results of these elections.
He continued that such a monitoring will add much transparency to the operation and does not carry the idea of interference in the internal affairs. He said that Egypt has accepted monitoring the elections in other countries and she has to accept her elections to be monitored.
