Government offical assassinated in Iraq

Gunmen assassinated Col. Sabah Bahloul Qara al-Toun, the assistant for the internal affairs director at the governorate's court upon leaving Husam Eddine mosque in the downtown of the city after Friday's prayers.

Two gunmen also killed the Imam of al-Zahra Shiite mosque in al-Basra Ali Abdul Hussein by opening fire at him outside his house.

In Najaf, the official at the Higher Council For The Islamic Revolution In Iraq, Sawan Ali al-Qeisi, died because of wounds he had from an earlier attack launched by gunmen in Baghdad, according to the deputy governor of Najaf to the south of Baghdad.
