Attacks in Iraq, 84 gunmen detained south of Baghdad

Various areas in Iraq witnessed on Friday a series of explosions that resulted in killing and injuring scores, the last of which was an attack by a booby trapped car that targeted an Iraqi police center to the south of Musil to the north of the country. This resulted in killing three army officers and injuring other three.

Also in Musil, two Iraqis were killed and other three injured in an attack by mortars at TerlAfer town to the west of the city where seven bodies were found, five of them were for unidentified gunmen.

Nine Iraqis were injured including seven soldiers in a booby trapped car explosion that targeted an inspection point for the Iraqi army at the northern entrance of the American base in the downtown of Tikrit to the north of Baghdad.

One American military spokesman announced the killing of 10 Iraqis and injuring other 12 in a booby trapped car explosion in front of a house near Balad down to the north of Baghdad. A spokesman for the Iraqi ministry of the interior said that the explosion targeted one of the Sufi gatherings. Earlier on Friday six Iraqis were killed including two soldiers in several attacks in that area, according to security sources.
