Iraq resumes oil exports to Turkey
Iraq-Turkey, Economics, 6/3/2005
A source at the sea shipment department said that Iraq resumed oil exports from Karkouk oil fields in the north of the country via pipelines to Turkey.
The source explained on Thursday that oil started to flow as from Wednesday at 18,000 barrels per hour.
The amounts of oil reached in storage tanks in the Turkish port of Jeihan 2.8 million barrels.
For their part, the source indicated that the increase of the Iraqi oil marketing establishment ( SOMO) of its sales of crude oil located in the tanks in Jeihan to the Turkish Tobrash refinery company reached 2.2 million barrels.
Iraq oil exports from the north pipeline stopped Friday following irregular flow since the explosions which took place in mid May.
Oil sites especially those in north Iraq are facing repeated attacks by gunmen. On Thursday one booby trapped car went off at the entrance of the complex of North Oil Company in Karkouk.
