Qurei' describes talks with president al-Assad as very important

The Palestinian Prime Minister described Thursday talks with President Bashar al-Assad and Syrian officials as "positive, productive and very important."

"I delivered president Bashar al-Assad a letter from chairman of the Palestinian authority Mahmoud Abbas concerning his latest tour in the USA and other countries," Ahmed Qurei' told reporters just after a meeting with FM Farouk al-Sharaa.

Qurei' briefed the Syrian side on the outcomes of the President of the Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas latest visit to the United States.

For his part, Sharaa reiterated Syria's support to the Palestinian people's struggle to achieve independence and the right to return and to establish their independent state, stressing the importance of the national unity among the Palestinian groups.

The premier indicated that talks with President Assad dealt with situation in the region, the Palestinian issue, Arab-Israeli conflict and bilateral relations within the frame of permanent deliberation between the two sides.

Qurei' stressed the significance of continuing coordination and consultation with sisterly Syria in order to unify the Palestinians to face the current challenges .
