UN Security Council extends for the occupation forces in Iraq
Iraq-UN, Politics, 6/1/2005

The UN Security Council on Tuesday approved extension of the "authorization" given to what is called the multi national forces in Iraq, noting that it is looking to that the Iraqi security forces will play a greater role and to shoulder the responsibility by the ultimate end for the security of the country.

A statement approved unanimously expressed the regret of the UN Security Council to the wave of violence targeting the Iraqi civilians and the Iraqi authorities. The statement also called on the UN security council member states to "help in ensuring the security of the Iraqi borders and preventing terrorists from infiltration," in a step considered by diplomats at the security council as targeting Syria.
