Libyan efforts to reform United Nations

The Libyan Secretary of the General Peoples Committee for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation met in Tripoli Monday morning with the ambassadors of Italy, China, Argentina, Turkey, Pakistan, Spain and South Korea accredited to the Great Jamahiriya whose countries represent "the Group of State Union for Consensus on UN Reform."

JANA reported that "The ambassadors conveyed to the Secretary the Group's point of view in terms of UN reform, expanding the Security Council as well as their desire for Great Jamahiriya support to this Group. They also praised the Leader of the Revolution's point view on the UN reform and making it democratic and transparent in favor of all world countries on equal bases."
He underlined the importance of African continent to have two permanent seats in the Security Council rotating among the African countries.

The Secretary underlined Libya's stance related to the importance of the UN reform, and "shifting Security Council's authorities to the General Assembly to realize democracy and that Security Council becomes an implementation tool for the General Assembly's resolutions," JANA said
