China: interesting market for Moroccan businessmen, ex-WTO DG
Morocco-China, Politics, 5/31/2005
Moroccan businessmen should rather see in China "a new interesting market," said the outgoing D.G. of the World Trade Organization, Supachai Panitchpakdi.
In an interview with the weekly "Challenge Hebdo," Panitchpakdi said the Chinese economic boom "will possibly contribute to the boom of the international economy."
The official said he was aware of the concerns of some countries over the quota cost adjustments, pointing out that it is the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund that have to find means to back the reform made by governments.
Panitchpakdi recalled that the cancellation of quotas may also be beneficial for south-south cooperation.
He said though that besides being a large exporter, China is also a huge market that should be taken advantage of.
