Palestine-Syria, Politics, 5/31/2005
The charge de affairs of the Palestinian embassy in Amman, Atallah Khaeiri, said that the Palestinian authority officially asked the Syrian government to approve opening a Palestinian embassy in Damascus.
Khaeiri said in a statement that the Syrian government has not answered the Palestinian request so far, noting that they are waiting for the approval.
Kheiri expressed the hope of the Palestinians to declare the Syrian consent. He described relations between the two sides as positive.
The Palestinian authority had requested the same from Kuwait and Lebanon to open two embassies for it in the two states.
On the other hand, Kheiri disclosed that the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas asked during his recent visit to Israel the US to mediate with Israel for permitting the Palestinian Bader forces, which are stationed in Jordan ( the Palestine liberation army ), to enter the Palestinian territories to assume the security missions. He said that the Palestinian authority received no answer to that.
