Two bloody explosions in Hella, 27 Iraqis were killed

With the cycle of continued bloody attacks in various parts of Iraq, some 27 Iraqis were killed on Monday and other scores were injured in a twin suicide attack that targeted a gathering for former police men in al-Hella city to the south of Baghdad.

In a statement on the Internet, Ansar al-Sunnah group announced the assassination of the police director of internal affairs in the governorate council of Karkouk governorate Lt. Gen. Ahmad al-Barzanji.

In a related development, the American army announced it had killed 12 foreign gunmen during a breaking in operation in Rawa and al-Gharbeya towns which overlook the Euphrates to the west of Baghdad.

Meantime, the Iraqi police and army forces continued the largest security operation in Baghdad and its surrounding.
