King Mohammed convinced new WTO chair will work for democratization of trade

Morocco's King Mohammed VI said he is convinced the new director general of the World Trade Organization, Pascal Lamy, will endeavor to give a new impetus to the WTO action and to the democratisation of the world trade liberalization rules.
In a message of congratulations to Lamy, former European Union trade chief Pascal Lamy of France who was confirmed as the new head of the Geneva-based WTO, the sovereign voiced conviction that Lamy will work to democratise the liberalization rules of the global trade in a way that makes them less harmful to the economies of developing countries. The 58-year-old Lamy, a French Socialist, is a said to be a fervent advocate of "controlled" globalisation.
