Two sit-ins in Morocco to protest desecration of the Holy Quran
Morocco-USA, Politics, 5/28/2005

Two sit-ins were observed Friday before the Parliament building in Rabat and the American consulate in Casablanca to protest the desecration of the Holy Quran by American investigators in Guantanamo detention base.

Demonstrators asked the American administration to present official apologies to the Islamic Nation and to work for immediately ending the desecration of the Moslem Holy book and the continuous provocation of Moslems' feelings.

The protesters chanted slogans condemning such acts and the hurting of Islam values as well as the humiliation of Moslems, calling on all concerned people to denounce the acts aiming at harming the Koran and the dignity of Moslems.

A communique distributed at the sit-ins called on the American administration to officially apologize and open an international enquiry and bring to justice those who committed the desecration acts.

US officials said that they are investigating of these claims. Detainees in Guantanamo Bay base are being held without being provided with judicial rights.
