King Mohammed visits exhibit of prisoners
Morocco, Culture, 5/27/2005
Morocco's King Mohammed VI visited in Rabat this Thursday an exhibit of literature, arts and craftsmanship products by prisoners.
The sovereign toured the exhibition showcasing paintings, items in wood, silver or copper, arts creations, plaster sculptures as well as photos and calligraphies made at correctional centers.
The exhibition is held as the Mohammed VI Foundation for the reintegration of detainees is holding this May 23-29 nationwide days to foster the social and professional reintegration of former detainees.
The exposition also features a vocational training workshop dispensing courses that match the job market as well as a workshop of craftsmanship skills.
Reintegration efforts include literacy classes, drama and music creations, sports and cooking.
Proceeds from the sale of products made by inmates will go to makers. They will also be used in the purchase of materials and equipment of the training centers.
