After years of promises, a joint visa among the Arab states remains an idea

Arab ministers of tourism council announced Wednesday the formation of a committee to discuss possibilities of creating a joint visa among the Arab states.
The committee includes Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Qatar, and the general secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council as well the Arab interior ministers council.
At final meetings of the Arab ministers of tourism council, participants underlined the need to make the appropriate legislative modifications as to put into force the electronic tourism visa. The partakers also demanded the council to continue work in implementing entrances and borders facilities programs and to exchange opportunities of training among the Arab states in field of tourism.
The eight session of the council of Arab ministers of tourism concluded one day meetings today during which there was a discussion of following up the implementation of Arab summit decisions on boosting the Arab sector of tourism and the Arab League suggestions to reactivate the Arab summits inclinations with respect to tourism in addition to increase the region's share of international tourism.
Arab League Secretary General had called upon the meeting to prepare a report on situation of Arab tourism to be raised to the upcoming Arab summit as to make tourism on the list of Arab joint action priorities.
