Al-Ateyah: $ 31 billion for energy investments in Qatar
Qatar, Economics, 5/26/2005

Qatar's minister of energy Abdullah Bin Hamad al-Ateyah stressed that the increase in the volume of foreign investments in the Qatari sector of energy increased to $ 31 billion until 2004.

This was expressed during the third annual conference for investment and finance in Qatar held in London for two days.

Ateyah said that Qatar is abundant with energy projects as it owns the third largest natural gas reserves in the world. A matter which attracts the majority of foreign investments for the energy sector.

On the other hand, the first deputy for the Qatari prime minister and the foreign minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasem Bin Jaber said that the conference plays an effective role in exploring and developing opportunities of joint cooperation between investors in the UK and Qatar.

He indicated the development of Qatari- British bilateral relations in more than one field making use of enhancing institutional framework linking the two countries including the Qatar- British Forum for trade and Commerce and the parliamentary group formed at the British house of commons which includes representatives for all active parties.

Worthy mentioning that Qatar has signed an agreement with Shell company at $ 7 billion to convert Qatar into a main source of liquid natural gas to each of Europe and north America
