Washington doubts Zarqawi's being injured
Iraq-USA, Politics, 5/25/2005

The American army in Iraq and the defense department in Washington announced they do not have intelligence information about the situation of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi on whom al-Qaida organization in Iraq said he is wounded.

The spokesman for the US army Maj. Steve Boylan said that the first aim of the American forces is to arrest al-Zarqawi or kill him, and in order to achieve that it will continue to chase him. He added that similar news were rumored before, and it was impossible almost to verify such news, noting that this might be a deception.

One official at the foreign ministry repeated the same views, stressing that it is difficult to verify the credibility of the statement issued on an Internet site associated with the media section of al-Qaida organization.

Al-Qaida statement did not set the date and place where al-Zarqawi was injured. It called on the Islamic nation to appeal to God for his quick recovery. However, the importance of the statement comes after the American forces carried out a military campaign recently targeted al-Qaem city near the Iraqi- Syrian forces and the surrounding area said it target what they called the followers of al-Zarqawi.

The US allotted a reward of 25 million dollars for anyone who gives information helping to arrest al-Zarqawi. Previously, news rumored that he was injured in fighting to the west of Baghdad and sought to get medical treatment in al-Ramadi hospital to the west of Baghdad.

The American also announced arresting one of al-Zarqawi drivers and one of his assistants in raids to the west of Iraq. The American army said that it was about to arrest al-Zarqawi himself.

Worthy mentioning that al-Jihad Qaida organization in Mesopotamia claimed responsibility for most of the armed operations and the explosions against the American and Iraqi forces. Before the American invasion, al-Zarqawi was a member of Ansar al-Islam group in Kurdistan.
