Seven American soldiers killed in Iraq

The American army announced that that three of its soldiers were killed on Tuesday in a booby trapped car explosion targeted their convoy in al-Doura area to the south of Baghdad.

One American military spokesman said that the American forces and the Iraqi police hurried to block the site of the attack, giving no more details about the incidents.

News reports quoted one American military spokesman as saying that four American soldiers were killed on Monday in a bomb explosion which was implanted in the highway in al-Heswa area to the south of Baghdad. The explosion of the bomb resulted in the destruction of a military vehicle.

Three American soldiers were killed in a bomb when their armored vehicles in al-Ramadi city to the west of Baghdad late on Monday.

In another development the Shiite member in the Iraqi Interim National Assembly ( the parliament) Salamah al-Khafaji survived an assassination attempt when gunmen opened fire at her procession on the road between the capital Baghdad and al-Najaf governorate. Al-Khafaji was not injured as a result of the attack but four of her body guards were strongly injured and admitted to hospital for medical treatment. This is, however, the third assassination attempt against al-Khafaji.

Earlier, the Iraqi police announced that six Iraqis were killed and other three were injured in a booby trapped car explosion near girls school in the downtown of Baghdad. The explosion also resulted in destroying several cars which was in the place.

Tuesday's explosion came after a bloody day in Iraq witnessed a series of explosions resulted in killing and wounding scores, the last of which was a twin attack by two booby trapped cars on Monday that targeted a gathering in Tel-Afer area in aMusil in the north of Iraq resulted in killing 35 persons and injuring other 25, according to the most recent calculation.
