Show goes on at Mawazine Festival
Morocco, Local, 5/24/2005

The 4th "Mawazine-Rythmes du Monde Festival" show went on Monday as Indian rhythms interacted with Moroccan sounds in one of the magic East nights.

Indian Thayambaka and Panchavadyam are a percussion music that is simply palpable excitement. Thayambaka musicians chant life and joy as their rhythmic Chenda music reach very high speeds to bring in listeners, who are unconsciously charmed in the excitement, marking time and rhythm with the waving of hands and nods of heads.

The rhythm goes on with Panchavadyam music, an ensemble of five percussion instruments, that is a spiritual music traditionally associated with temple festivals in Kerala (South India).

Some meters from Mohammed V theatre, R'batis were echoing "Marsoul al-Houb" (Love messenger) and "Mana Illa Bachar" (I'm just a human being) after the strong voice of Abdelwahab Doukkali.

The 4th Mawazine-Rythmes du Monde Festival will pull down curtains on Mai 25.
