Syria-Palestine, Politics, 5/24/2005
Syria's Minister of Islamic Endowments ( Waqf) Ziduddin al-Ayyoubi underscored the importance of Jerusalem and al-Aqsa Mosque in the lives of Moslems.
In a meeting with Sheikh Taysir al-Tamimi, senior Islamic Sharia judge in Palestine and Imam of al-Ibrahimi Mosque, the Minister pointed out to the Syrian stances towards the Palestinian issue and to the Islamic world denunciation of Israeli attempt to Judaize the occupied city of Jerusalem.
For his part, Sheikh Tamimi said Syria is the main support for the Palestinian people, adding that by defending the Arab legitimate rights, Syria has been preserving the Arab Nation's principled stances.
Sheikh Tamimi pointed out to the repeated attempts by Israeli occupation authorities to destroy al-Aqsa Mosque and judaize Jerusalem city through establishing the racial segregation wall to prevent the Palestinians from reaching the city. He stressed that the Palestinian people will continue to defend their territories and holy places whatever the sacrifices.
