al-Jazeera TV: Sudanese refugees on the Iraqi- Jordanian borders
Sudan-Iraq, Politics, 5/23/2005

Several Sudanese who were pending at the border area between Iraq and Jordan called on humanitarian organizations to move to help them in solving their problems after they have become homeless.

Many of them talked to al-Jazeera TV on the catastrophic conditions they live in, as they live in tents in the desert.

Those Sudanese described how they were exposed to acts of repression and were beaten by the Iraqi police and national guards before they were expelled from the country not only because they had arrived from Iraq, but because they are accused of being terrorists and collaborators for the regime of Saddam Hussein.

The thing that makes their situation worse is that the Jordanian authorities do not permit them to enter the country, while the Iraqis refuse their return back. Many of those Sudanese said they were beaten by the Jordanian police.
