Several imprisonments sentences against fighters in Iraq

One Iraqi court on Baghdad issued life imprisonment sentences against two persons of a Syrian nationality convicted of committing armed acts in the country.
A criminal court in the city of al-Kout to the south of Baghdad sentenced the first death sentences against three Iraqis convicted of killing and kidnapping crimes after they had admitted they are members of an armed group called Ansar al-Sunni army.
In another development, the Iraqi minister of justice Abdul Hussein Shandal said that the authorities released Ghazi Hammoud al-Obeidi who was an official in the regime of the former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein because of his deteriorated health condition Al-Obeidi lawyer Bade Ezzat said that the Iraqi authorities released al-Obeidi on April 28th for health reasons. al-Obeidi ( 65 year old) is considered the fist Iraqi official in the former regime to be released among the 55- member list wanted by the American forces.
