Three Romanian journalists released in Iraq
Iraq-Romania, Local, 5/23/2005
Bucharest has announced the release of three of its citizens and their translator held by an armed group in Iraq, noting that they are now in the protection of the Romanian authorities.
In a statement, the Romanian presidency said the "three persons are in good condition and they will return back home as soon as possible." The said hostages were released almost two months after their capture.
One Iraqi group calling itself Mu'az Bin Jabal groups threatened in a video tape broadcast by al-Jazeera TV in April to kill the three hostages, who are journalists working in the local media, if the government does not withdraw its forces from Iraq.
