Abdullah described what is taking place in the region of positive change

The Jordanian king Abdullah II considered that what is taking place in the region at the meantime as the positive winds of change which have been already started.
Abdullah II said on Friday before some 1200 world public figures taking part in the world economic Forum which is held in the Dead Aea area " It is actually the moment of seizing opportunities. No earlier such a chance was provided for progress. We testify today that the winds of positive change are blowing in the region."
The Jordanian King said that "this positive change" is deserved by Arab citizens, especially the young among them "who deserve a world in which they can launch their capacities to the utmost and building a future for themselves and their families." He indicated that his country is involved deeply and seriously in the reform operation, which includes good guidance, education and economic growth. He said that "there is a clear time schedule which is 2010 for the useful and realistic work." The Jordanian King urged for supporting private initiatives in the Arab states, noting that a statement will be issued by the Great G-8 in which these states "support reforms which stem from the local environment in the Middle East."
Despite the impediments which he said challenging the winds for the change, the king commended certain positive developments including the commitment of the Palestinians and the Israelis forward to the peace process. He stressed the need of supporting a united and stable Iraq whose people are able to build a vital economy and united people.
Among participants in the Forum which lasts for three days are the Palestinian prime minister Ahmad Qurei', the Iraqi foreign minister Hoshyar Zeibari, the Israeli deputy premier Shimon Peres and the first American lady Laura Bush.
The statements of the Jordanian King come one day from the threats made by the US secretary of state Condaleezza Rice against Iran that the winds for change in the region will target it. Rice said during her visit to Kuwait on Friday that "the Iranians should not think they are apart from major changes taking place in the region."
