Fear of sectarian war as attacks increase in Iraq

Various parts of Iraq had witnessed in the few past hours attacks and explosions resulted in killing or wounding scores amid fears that the country is heading towards a sectarian war, at a time attacks have been escalated against mosques and Shiite shrines and targeting Sunni and Shiite religious figures.

In the most recent of these attacks two persons were killed at least and other five injured in a booby trapped car explosion on late Thursday evening near the Huseneyat Imam al-Mahdi in al-Sedeyah area to the south of Baghdad.

Meantime, the American army announced on Thursday that three of its soldiers were killed two of them were in an attack at their convoy in the downtown of Baghdad. Another American military statement said that a third American soldier was killed in al-Ramadi to the west of Baghdad.
