Kuwait to invest $ 4 billion in developing transport sector

Kuwait stressed it intends to invest more than $4 billion in developing the basic infrastructure projects in the sector of transport and developing standing projects during the few coming years.
The Kuwaiti ministry secretary for road projects Abdul Latif al-Dakhil said that the new projects includes a higher bridge at a length of 36 km from the city of Kuwait to al-Sebyah at a cost between 400 and 500 million Dinars, estimated at USD 1.7 billion.
Al-Dakhil explained on the sideline of a conference organized by the Middle East Economic Digest talked about the opportunities of investments in major projects in Kuwait and a second project includes the construction of a highway at a length of 72 kilometers from al-Sebyah to the north at a cost of 85 million Dinars.
Al-Dakhil said that the current projects for road infrastructure will be at a cost exceeding one billion Kuwaiti Dinars for the five coming years.
The first bids for these projects will be in July when companies working in Kuwait will submit bids for al-Sebyah road projects which will be carried out at three phases each not to exceed 20 Km.
Thanks to the flow of oil revenues with the increase of its prices and the liberation of Kuwait from the security threats, reflected in the Iraqi regime of the toppled President Saddam Hussein, Kuwaiti has started the implementation of projects at billions of dollars hoping to help it in restoring back its position as a trade center in the Gulf region.
Among these projects are a port n Bobyan island off al-Sebya. This project is to be ready to receive ships by the end of 2008 and a tourism center in Filka islans. The Kuwaiti government also intends to build a city that can accommodate 500,000 in Sebyah in order to alleviate jams in the city of Kuwait and its suburbs.
