Syria seeks use to experience of others in development

Syria is seeking to follow social and economic developments as well technological progress in the world and make use of them as well softening their passive impact through the ambitious economic program of reform, senior economic official in Syria said on Wednesday.
"The program of reform in Syria is inclined to liberate foreign trade and simplify administrative procedures in addition to improve investment atmosphere to make it more attractive for national, Arab and foreign investments," Minister of economy Amer Hosni Lutfi told the opening of the seminar on " growth and economic change in Syria.
Reform program in Syria is also interested in financial, banking and administrative domains in addition to health and education as well developing human cadres.
" Syria is cooperating with many sides to achieve this program like the EU and donation parties, the World Bank and UN organizations in a way that goes with the Syrian economy," Lutfi said.
He noted that Syria recently has seen growing development of cooperation ties with the World Bank that allowed chance to make use of the bank rich expertise in fields of trade policies and investment atmosphere improvement as well national calculations abilities.
World Bank Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa Christian Portman stressed the importance of the seminar in views trading over economic developments and growth in Syria and how the World Bank is supporting them in addition to talk and discuss the World Bank studies over some reform experiences to make use of them.
"Syria has achieved a lot of progress regarding human development and illiteracy combating and education. Syria is facing challenges to provide job opportunities and develop technologies," Portman said expressing readiness to give technical expertise and put the World Bank studies under her disposal to make use of them according to her specialties.
The seminar is held by the ministry of economy and trade with the Syrian federation of trade chambers in cooperation with the World Bank.
