New talks between Algerian government, Kbayel representatives

The Algerian prime minister Ahmad O Yahya will be meeting with the representatives of Tanseqiyat al-Oroush in a new round of talks aimed at restoring relative calm in Kbayel area ( in the east of the country).
This meeting will be the third between O Yahya and the Amazigh activists since the launching of the wave of protests in April 2001 led by al-Oroush movement, a gathering for the representatives of Kbayel population.
In their last meeting by the beginning of this year, the two sides agreed to form a joint committee to consider a list of demands by the Kbayel embodied in punishing suspects involved in using violence against protesters during demonstrations started following the death of a young man at a police center and resulted in killing more than 100 protesters.
The list of demands for al-Oroush also includes desolving local people's council emerged from the elections of 2002 and making the Amazigh language an official language in addition to Arabic.
